CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

 

Under administrative supervision from a designated administrative officer, to plan, coordinate, and supervise construction projects.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, coordinates, and supervises the work of the Foreman, Sub Foreman, and/or craft employees on construction projects
  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees
  • Determines work priorities and coordinates work activities within the design area and/or with others outside of the office
  • Coordinates scheduling meetings and reviewing project documents (e.g., contracts, specifications, blueprints) as necessary
  • Collaborates with administrators on the supervision of all work operations
  • Keeps cost records on work performed and materials; is responsible for the control of costs in materials and wages
  • Exercises control over rate of construction progress in order to complete construction project within time limits; schedules jobs and operations
  • Estimates materials needed for specific jobs; estimates manpower needed for specific jobs
  • Leads inspection and commission of day to day construction work to enforce conformity to specifications
  • Acts as an adviser on job related problems
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Work experience in roofing construction
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in roofing construction

FOREMAN

 

A foreman has the responsibility to monitor the works of the crew to ensure that the tasks are well carried out according to plan. The person needs to be very skillful and experienced to do the job.

Duties and Responsibilities

There are a number of duties and responsibilities which are expected to be fulfilled by a construction foreman and they are as follows:

  • Assess job priorities to assign them to the employees to appropriate job sites.
  • It will be needed to monitor the smoothly running of the work as per plan.
  • Make sure the safety precautions and they are followed as well.
  • Maintain the coordination with the supervisor regarding the crew both positive and negative.
  • Help the employees as well in training and learning the new tasks.
  • Directions to workers as to what needs to be done to avoid repetitive mistakes by the workers

 

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Work experience in roofing construction
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in roofing construction
  • General computer, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

ROOFING MECHANIC (ROOFER)

 

Roofing Mechanic maintains and installs roofs. Assignments are received through oral instructions prior to and during the progress of a job. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

There are a number of duties and responsibilities which are expected to be fulfilled by a roofing mechanic and they are as follows:

  • Inspects composition shingles, slate shingles, roofing tiles, built up, and metal roofs for leaks.
  • Removes old roofs, installs roof insulation, felts bitumens and performs repairs as indicated to leaking roofs.
  • Installs composition shingles, slate shingles, roofing tiles, and flashings.
  • Applies cold process roof coatings.
  • Determines materials required for roof repairs, flashing repairs, and the installation of new roofs.
  • May supervise other workmen and laborers in the repair and replacement of roofs.
  • Performs related work as required.
